Although Alamo Heights began over 50 years ago, we just recently moved to our new location. AHBC participates in the community of Port Lavaca through Calhoun County Ministrial Alliance and the Fellowship of Churches. AHBC is also a member of the Guadalupe Baptist Association, the Baptist General Convention of Texas, and the Southern Baptist Convention.

Our worship services are filled with wonderful uplifting music that Glorifies Christ and inspirational Bible based preaching.

AHBC Vision Statement

"Through loving God and others, Alamo Heights Baptist Church is a united family committed to urgently spreading & teaching the Word of God as we eagerly await Christ's eminent return."

I was born in Maryville, MO (about 90 miles north of Kansas City, MO) in 1952 and  grew up on the family farm near a small town called Tarkio located about 15 miles from Nebraska and 12 miles from Iowa.  I had 4 brothers, 2 older and 2 younger.  I grew up doing mostly farm chores—disking and plowing for raising corn and soybeans, milking cows and riding horses.

Mom and Dad took us to Sunday school every week where I learned lots ABOUT Jesus, but I did not KNOW Jesus.  I tried to be a “good kid” and tried to have a “good” moral standard.

I was introduced to Jesus when I was seventeen years old at the local Baptist church’s annual revival.  I really didn’t know what I was getting myself into except I did know that my life would never be the same.  I asked Jesus to come into my life as Lord and Savior.  I experienced real peace and real joy immediately, and I have been experiencing a truly abundant life ever since.

I went to Northwest Missouri State University at Maryville, MO where I got a B.S. in Secondary Education in Industrial Arts.   I also got involved in a discipleship ministry, and I learned what it meant to grow in Christ and how to help others grow in their walk with our Lord.

I met Galen at college and the long and short of it is that God put us together and we were married in 1975.  We have 3 grown children and are living happily ever after together (40 years and counting).

I taught Industrial Arts in Des Moines, IA for 3 years and for 2 years in Tarkio, MO.

Galen has a B.S. in Secondary Education in Spanish and German, a Master’s Degree in ESL (English as a Second Language), and a Master’s Degree in Education.

Galen has taught Spanish and ESL but enjoys being a Pastor’s wife more than anything she has done.

Our son Jacob and his family live in Howell, MI where he is a Lead Web Designer for the Hurst Corporation and his wife, Heather, is a Physician’s Assistant.  They have 3 children, Jaidyn, Tyler, & Emmie.

Our oldest daughter Brenda and her family live in the Springfield, MO area where she is a certified Massage Therapist and her husband, Justin, is a Construction Contractor.  They have 2 children, Olivia and Issac.

Our youngest daughter, Sharilyne, and her family live in the Kansas City, MO area where she works out of the home as an English Trainer and her husband, Steven, teaches middle school science.  They have 3 children, Sophia, Daniele, and Nora.

We are blessed in that our kids are ALL involved in the leadership of their local churches as they serve the Lord according to their gifts.

I began the pastoral ministry in 1984 about the same time I began my seminary education.  I graduated from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City, MO, with a Masters of Divinity degree in 1987.  We have enjoyed the pastoral ministry for over 31 years so far.

God has blessed us everywhere that we have served and we are looking forward to the next step of our journey in service to Christ.

I am excited about being your Pastor here at Alamo Heights Baptist Church.

May His will be done.

Serving by His Grace and in His Love,

Pastor Ken Bolton
